漆のぐい呑み

Lacquer sake cup

Even though it is lacquer, this silver luster will surprise everyone who sees it for the first time.

The texture of the silver on the inside is created by sprinkling silver powder on dry lacquer, coating and hardening the lacquer, polishing the lacquer while scraping off the grains of silver, and finally polishing it directly by hand to express the original color and luster of silver.

Since it is made of lacquer, it is light and has a smooth and gentle feel to it.

The more you use it, the more the texture of the silver will change.
I want to enjoy it over the years.

This is a work by Kawatsura Lacquerware "Lacquer Studio Settsu" in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture.
Many works have been produced with this silver painting technique, so I'd like to introduce them one by one.

It is difficult to convey the texture of the work with just a photo, so we recommend using a VR app that allows you to rotate and enlarge the work. https://kougeikurashi.com/blogs/%E7%89%B9%E9%9B%86/vr360
